A hungry Wolf once wandered near a quiet meadow, searching for something to fill his empty stomach. After hours of finding nothing, he spotted a strong Horse grazing peacefully in the tall grass. The Wolf paused, knowing the Horse was much larger and far more powerful than he was. He realized that attacking the Horse directly would be extremely dangerous. Instead, he began thinking of a trick that might give him the upper hand.
The Wolf soon decided to pretend to be a healer. He approached the Horse slowly with a gentle voice and said he was a traveling doctor who could treat any pain or injury. The Horse, who was wise and cautious, immediately sensed something suspicious. Still, he remained calm. The Horse understood that staying composed was the best way to protect himself. He decided to play along and find the right moment to turn the Wolf’s plan against him.
The Horse politely told the Wolf that he had terrible pain in his hind hoof and asked if the “doctor” could examine it. Hearing this, the Wolf’s excitement grew. He believed the Horse had fallen for the trick, and that getting close to the hind leg would give him the perfect chance to bite and disable his prey. The Wolf convinced himself that his plan was working and that the Horse would soon be helpless. Trying to look professional, he walked behind the Horse and bent down to inspect the “injury.”
The Horse groaned softly, pretending to be in great pain, and urged the Wolf to look even closer under his hoof. The Wolf leaned his head forward, thinking he was just moments away from attacking. He had no idea the Horse was carefully waiting for the perfect moment.
Just as the Wolf lowered his head within reach, the Horse unleashed a powerful kick with all his strength. The iron-shod hoof struck the Wolf directly on the head with a loud crack. In one instant, the Wolf was knocked flat on his back, stunned and broken. He lay on the ground dazed, his jaw aching, several teeth shattered, and his vision blurred.
The Horse calmly stepped aside and continued grazing as if nothing extraordinary had happened. He knew his cleverness had saved him. Meanwhile, the Wolf struggled to get up, shaken and humiliated. Realizing his deception had failed completely, he limped back toward the forest in pain and regret.
