Long ago, in a small village in West Africa, people lived closely together and depended on one another to survive. For many years, the village was peaceful, but gradually it became shadowed by fear. Every night, strange noises echoed from the edge of the forest, livestock disappeared, food supplies were damaged, and no one dared to step outside after dark.
The villagers believed that a dangerous creature was hiding nearby. Strong men gathered to discuss what to do, yet none were willing to face the unknown danger in the darkness. As days passed, fear grew deeper, and the entire village lived in constant anxiety and uncertainty.
Among them was a young man from an ordinary family. Though still young, he clearly saw the suffering of his people and felt troubled by their fear. He understood that if no one took action, the village would never regain its peace.
One night, the young man made a quiet decision. Without boasting or asking for help, he prepared simple weapons and left the village while everyone slept. He knew he might never return, but he believed that courage was necessary to protect the community he loved.
As he approached the forest, he discovered the truth. There was no monster or evil spirit, as the rumors claimed. Instead, a group of thieves had been using the darkness to steal livestock and destroy food. They hid carefully and spread fear so no one would dare chase them away.
Although afraid, the young man remained calm and observant. He created loud noises to alert the village, distracted the thieves, and bravely confronted them until the villagers arrived. Panicked, the thieves fled into the forest and never returned.
The next morning, the truth was revealed. Fear faded, replaced by relief and gratitude. The villagers gathered to honor the young man and called him The Brave Son of the Village, not because of physical strength, but because of his willingness to face fear for the sake of others.
From that day on, peace returned to the village. The story was passed down through generations as a reminder that true courage does not depend on age or power, but on responsibility, sacrifice, and the strength to protect one’s community.
