Once upon a time, in a small village surrounded by thick forests and flowing rivers, there lived two siblings: a clever girl and her younger brother, who was known throughout the village for his foolishness. The girl was quick-witted, calm under pressure, and always full of clever ideas. Her brother, however, was careless, acted without thinking, and often got himself into trouble. Everyone in the village admired the girl for her intelligence, while shaking their heads at the boy’s reckless behavior.
One day, the village elders received troubling news: a terrible ogre, cruel and immensely strong, lived deep in the forest. The ogre attacked travelers, stole food from villagers, and terrorized anyone who came near. Many brave men had tried to stop him, but his strength combined with arrogance made him impossible to defeat. The ogre believed no one could outsmart him and felt completely untouchable.
The elders called upon the clever girl and her foolish brother to journey into the forest and confront the ogre, hoping they could bring peace back to the village. The boy was confident that his strength alone would be enough, but his sister reminded him that brute force without strategy could never defeat such a dangerous foe.
As they entered the dense forest, the ogre spotted them and let out a mighty roar, threatening to eat them both. The foolish boy, full of bravado, ran forward with his fists ready, ignoring his sister’s warnings. The clever girl stayed calm and told him to step back and let her handle the situation.
The girl addressed the ogre with respect and confidence. She said, “I can solve a riddle that no one in this forest has ever answered. If I succeed, will you promise to leave our village in peace?” The ogre, proud and curious, agreed, certain that no one could outsmart him.
The clever girl then asked the ogre this riddle: “I am always moving but never leave my home. I can swallow the sun and stars but I never sleep. What am I?” The ogre scratched his head, stomped the ground, and thought hard. Hours seemed to pass as he tried every answer he could think of, but he could not solve it. Frustrated and confused, the ogre grew angry, roaring and thrashing in the forest.
While the ogre was distracted by his failure to answer the riddle, the clever girl quickly devised a plan. She noticed a thick rope hanging from a tree, which hunters often used in the forest. Using her agility, she sneaked close to the ogre while he stomped in frustration. Carefully, she tied one end of the rope around the ogre’s ankle. The ogre, still fuming and focused on his anger over the riddle, didn’t notice her nimble hands.
The girl worked quickly, moving from rope to rope. She then pulled the final loop over his head, rendering him completely tangled and helpless. The boy, seeing her clever thinking in action, finally understood the power of strategy and intelligence. He helped secure the final knots to make sure the ogre could no longer harm anyone.
The siblings returned to the village as heroes. The villagers celebrated their bravery, and the chief praised the clever girl for using her wisdom and intelligence to protect the community. The boy also learned an important lesson: strength without intelligence can be dangerous, but careful thinking and planning lead to success. From that day on, the villagers remembered the story as a timeless lesson in courage, cleverness, and the power of using one’s mind in difficult situations.
